| dc.description.abstract | Bu tez, Suriyeli tarihçilerin genel olarak Osmanlı Devleti'ne ve özellikle Arap toprakları ile Suriye'yi dört yüzyıl boyunca yönetmesine dair görüşlerini ele almaktadır. Bu tezde, Osmanlı Devleti'nin tarihi üç aşamaya ayrılmış ve üç bölümde ele alınmıştır. Birinci bölümde, Suriyeli tarihçilerin Osmanlı Devleti'nin kuruluşundan 1839 Tanzimat Dönemi'nin başlangıcına kadar olan döneme dair görüşleri söz konusu edilmiştir. Yazarların bu dönemde meydana gelen önemli olaylar hakkındaki görüşleri -İstanbul'un fethi, Endülüs'ün kaybedilmesi, Yavuz Sultan Selim'in Arap topraklarını fethetmesi gibi konular- tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman ve Sultan II. Selim'in yönetim dönemlerine dair görüşleri ve bu yönetimlerin Osmanlı Devleti ve Arap toprakları üzerindeki etkilerini ele almakta ve Sultan Süleyman'ın ölümünden sonra Osmanlı Devleti'nin çöküşünü incelemektedir. İkinci bölümde, Tanzimat ve Sultan II. Abdülhamid dönemi (1839-1908) ele alınmıştır. Tarihçiler, Osmanlı Devleti'nin Batı'daki yönetim modeliyle yönetilmeye başlanması ve bunun devlet ve halk üzerindeki etkilerini incelemişlerdir. Ayrıca, Sultan II. Abdülhamid döneminin Araplarla olan ilişkisi ve II. Abdülhamid'in tahtan indirilme meselesi de incelenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde ise tarihçiler ve yazarların İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti'nin yönetim dönemi (1908-1918), Birinci Dünya Savaşı'ndaki gelişmeler ve Arapların savaşa karşı tutumları hakkındaki görüşleri ortaya konmuştur. | dc.description.sponsorship | This thesis examines the perspectives of Syrian historians towards the Ottoman Empire, namely its governance over the Arab nations and Syria, which persisted for four centuries. The history of the Ottoman Empire is segmented into three phases, each discussed in an individual chapter. The initial chapter investigates the opinions of Syrian historians regarding the history of the Ottoman Empire from its foundation until the onset of the Tanzimat era in 1839, along with their assessments of significant events during this timeframe, including the conquest of Istanbul, the loss of Andalusia to non-Muslim forces, and Sultan Selim's annexation of Arab territories. It examines their perspectives on the reigns of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and Sultan Selim I, as well as the influence of their governance on the Ottoman Empire and Arab nations, culminating in the empire's decline following Sultan Suleiman's demise. The second chapter addresses the Tanzimat era and the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II (1839-1908), encompassing historians' views on the incremental evolution of the state into a system regulated by Western-style humanitarian laws, as well as the implications of this transformation for both the state and its populace. The text examines the era of Sultan Abdulhamid II's rule, his interactions with the Arabs, and the circumstances surrounding his ousting from authority. The third chapter addresses historians' and writers' viewpoints on the Committee of Union and Progress governance (1908-1918), the occurrences of World War I, the Arab position during the conflict, the factors contributing to the Ottoman Empire's defeat, and its retreat from Arab territories in late 1918. | |
