Abstract
This dissertation is composed of two chapters in addition to an introduction and a conclusion. In the introduction, Kant?s life and his philosophical development are investigated.Chapter I focuses on Kant?s epistemology. His theory of knowledge is of utter significance inasmuch as it constitutes a foundation for his concept of faith. It is for this reason that we discussed the basic elements of knowledge and examined its significance in terms of the concept of faith. At the end of the chapter, we critiqued Kant?s theory of knowledge as a whole.Chapter II deals with Kant?s notion of faith. Here Kant?s concept of faith and the related concepts are examined. Discussed next are the efforts that Kant made to establish faith and his attitude toward the established religion and religious institutions. Kant rejects the theoretical foundations of faith and claims that faith be based on practical grounds. This claim of Kant is discussed throughout the chapter and his understanding of faith is critiqued at the end.
