| dc.description.abstract | Language typology is a field of study in linguistics that dates back to comparative grammar studies, and has changed both theoretically and methodologically over time. It is surely beyond doubt that, the increase in technological opportunities and the ease of access to data have also positively affected this field. WALS, which can be considered within this framework, is an electronic database in which the structural features of languages are tagged. In the literature, there are various method suggestions for preparing rankings using WALS data. In our study, three of these methods (Comrie, 2010; Orgun, 2011; Uzun, 2012a) were brought into a package format that can be used in the R environment, and typological analysis was carried out on the samples. Within the scope of our research questions, it has been concluded that; (i) WALS data structure has some aspects that complicate computer-aided studies and should be addressed with further studies, (ii) comparative analysis of the findings of the three methods and potential new methods can lead to new results within the framework of typological studies, (iii) there is no direct and dominant effect of being family/relative within the framework of "typicality", "coherence" and "mutual similarity". The findings of this study, which is a pioneering computational typology study in Turkish literature, can be supported and improved by further studies. | tr_TR |
| dc.description.ozet | Dil tipolojisi, geçmişi karşılaştırmalı dilbilgisi çalışmalarına dek uzanan ve zaman içinde hem kuramsal hem de yöntembilimsel olarak değişim gösteren bir dilbilim çalışma alanıdır. Hiç kuşkusuz ki teknolojik olanakların artması ve veriye erişimin kolaylaşması bu alanı da olumlu yönde etkilemiştir. Bu çerçevede sayılabilecek WALS, dillerin yapısal özelliklerinin etiketlendiği bir elektronik veritabanıdır. Alanyazında WALS verisi kullanılarak yapılabilecek sıralamalar için çeşitli yöntem önerileri bulunmaktadır. Çalışmamızda bu yöntemlerden üçü (Comrie, 2010; Orgun, 2011; Uzun, 2012a) R ortamında kullanılabilecek bir paket biçimine getirilerek örneklemler üzerinden tipolojik analiz yürütülmüştür. Araştırma sorularımız çerçevesinde; (i) WALS veri yapısının bilgisayar destekli çalışmaları zorlaştıran bazı yönlerinin bulunduğu ve ileri çalışmalarla ele alınması gerektiği, (ii) üç yöntemin ve potansiyel yeni yöntemlerin bulgularının karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alınmasının tipolojik araştırmalar çerçevesinde yeni sonuçlara ulaştırabileceği, (iii) aile/akraba olmanın "tipiklik", "tutarlılık" ve "karşılıklı benzerlik" çerçevesinde doğrudan ve baskın bir etkisinin olmadığı sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Türkçe alanyazında öncü bir hesaplamalı tipoloji çalışması niteliği taşıyan bu çalışmanın bulguları ileri çalışmalarla desteklenip geliştirilebilir. | tr_TR |
