Abstract
Çalışma, Soğuk Savaş'ın askeri ve ekonomik rekabetin yanı sıra tarafların savunduğu ideolojilerin de bir mücadelesi olduğundan hareketle Soğuk Savaş'taki Hollywood filmlerini, insanların duyguları ve düşünceleri için yürütülen mücadelede yumuşak güç unsuru olarak değerlendirerek filmlerin mesajlarıyla Amerikan değerleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektedir. Hem Amerikan dış politikasını ve bunun ülke içindeki yansımalarını hem Hollywood tarihini hem de bu dönemlerde ülkenin öne çıkan yumuşak güç unsurlarını dönemin popüler filmleri üzerinden analiz etmenin ABD'nin ideolojisini ve dış politikasında hangi mesajları nasıl aktardığını ortaya çıkaracağı varsayılmıştır. Her bölümde, söz konusu yıllar içerisindeki dış politika, dış politikanın iç politikaya ve Hollywood'a yansımaları ele alınmış; Hollywood'a hâkim olan temalar üzerinden dönemin öne çıkan filmleri incelenmiştir.
This study examines the relationship between the messages of the films and American values by evaluating Hollywood films in the Cold War as a soft power element in the struggle for people's emotions and thoughts, considering that the Cold War was a struggle not only for military and economic competition but also for the ideologies defended by the parties. It is assumed that analyzing both American foreign policy and its domestic reflections, the history of Hollywood and the prominent soft power elements of the country during these periods through popular films of the period will reveal the ideology of the United States and the messages it conveys in its foreign policy. In each chapter, the foreign policy in the years in question, the reflections of foreign policy on domestic politics and Hollywood are discussed, and the prominent films of the period are analyzed through the themes that dominated Hollywood.
