Abstract
Information technologies and the information resources produced and presented in digital formats have considerably changed the information-seeking, information-accessibility and information-use behavior of teaching staff at universities. Information centers of the universities fulfill their responsibility of meeting the information needs of the teaching staff by electronic and printed resources at hand. The need for the use of information technology in recent information services has affected and shaped the information-seeking behavior of the teaching staff as well as user behavior and the nature of information services. In the current research study, data about the information-seeking behavior of 1907 teaching staff from different universities (541 from Tabriz University, 146 from Azerbaijan Tarbiyat Moallem University, 582 from Tabriz Medical Sciences University, 554 from Islamic Azad University, 84 from Sahand Industrial University) have been gathered and examined using descriptive methodology, interviews and surveys. The findings show that information technologies have had a considerable impact on the information-seeking behavior and information literacy habits of the teaching staff at the universities in Tabriz as well as the collection of information, collection development and the policies of information services at the information centers of these universities.
