Abstract

This study, which was prepared as a doctorate thesis, deals with the state organization of the Aq-Qoyunlu who ruled in Eastern Anatolia and Iran during the XlVth and XVth centuries. As a matter of fact, the Aq-Qoyunlu started to form their own state organization during the time of Uzun Hasan. In the understanding of the Aq- Qoyunlu sovereignty, the effect of the ancient steppe Turkish tradition was great. On account of the fact that the state was regarded as the associated possession of the Bayandor dynasty, to be a sovereign was possible for all of the male members of the dynasty. In the palace life of the Aq-Qoyunlu were also some traditions and ceremonies. The Aq-Qoyunlu state had a palace organization as that of the İl-Khans and Timurids named as Dervislodge or Dawlatkhana. The Aq-Qoyunlu state had civil territories granted as soyurgals and waqf lands. The military power of the Aq-Qoyunlu, in general, consisted of the nomadic Turkoman tribes. The army was divided into some parts as Koşun, Tip and Fevc.
