| dc.description.abstract | Bu tezin amacı Pragmatizmin epistemolojik yaklaşımının yirminci yüzyılın ilk yarısında bilimlere etkilerini değerlendirmektir. Bu değerlendirme, öncelikle pragmatist felsefenin karakteristik özelliklerini pragmatizmin üç önemli figürü olan Charles Sanders Peirce, William James ve John Dewey'in düşüncelerinin epistemoloji ve bilim felsefesine dair kısımlarına odaklanılarak belirlenmesiyle yapılmıştır. Devamında bu filozofların çalışmaları çerçevesinde bir pragmatist bilim yaklaşımı tasvir edilmiş ve bu tasvirin ışında zamanın fizik ve sosyoloji problemleri ele alınarak bu bilimlerle pragmatist düşünce arasındaki benzerlikler ve farklılıklar ortaya konulmuştur. Son bölümde bilim tarihi ve çağdaş düşünce bağlamında pragmatizm ve bilim ilişkisi eleştirel bir analize tabi tutulmuştur. | tr_TR |
| dc.description.ozet | The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effects of the epistemological approach of pragmatism on sciences in the first half of twentieth century. Said evaluation is done by initially specifying the characteristics of pragmatist philosophy of three main figures of Pragmatism, namely Charles Sanders Peirce, William James and John Dewey focusing on their thoughts about epistemology and philosophy on science. Following that, a description about a pragmatic approach on science was given based on the work of said philosophers and this description was used to compare the then-contemporary problems in physics and sociology with the pragmatist approach of science to identify the similarities and differences between said sciences and pragmatist thought. In the end section a critical analysis of the relationship between pragmatism and science with respect to the history of science and contemporary thought was done. | tr_TR |
