Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the opinions of the teachers andinspectors in the lesson inspection period of the elementary school inspectorsregarding to the behaviors of inspectors and its relations to teacher motivation.The research was conducted with the attendance of 49 ElementarySchool inspectors who work in the border of Kahramanmaraş Province andunder he National Education Directorate of the Elementary School inspectorsand with the participation of 426 class teachers who work in the elementaryschools Kahramanmaraş province during the academic year 2005-2006.In order to collect to data about the study, a-five-LIKERT typequestionnaire was developed. The questionnaire was in three parts which are?identifying current situation process?, correction/development and evaluationprocess?, and ?other activities?. The data collected with the questionnaire wereanalyzed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). In theanalysis, frequencies, percentages, arithmetic means, Variance Analysis and t-test have been used.According to the results of the study, the opinions of the teachers andinspectors in the lesson inspection period of the elementary school inspectorshave differed regarding to the behaviors of inspectors and its relations toteacher motivation. While the inspectors express more positive opinions incomparison with the teachers about their behaviors to motivate the teachers,the teachers think more negatively about the same subject in comparison withthe inspectors.According to the results of the research, in order of importance theinspectors? behaviors which teacher thinks that motivates them were in the areaof `other activities?. However, teacher have stated that the behaviors of theinspectors have densely motivated them regarding to `identifying currentsituation process?, and correction/development and evaluation process?, foundto be `fair? or `little? degree.While the inspectors have given importance to the behaviors thatemphasize positive human relationships like approaching generally with asmiling face, behaving friendly, having positive relationships; the teachers havegiven importance to the behaviors that can remove the problems anddiscomforts that would result from the existence of the elementary teachinginspectors in the class.
