Abstract
ABSTRACT In the Hittite State Archive that includes so many items, seems to be given a big place to the ritual texts. These rituals aimed to provide something which isn't taken with normal way or to damage someone or to keep from the damage by using some confidential force with magical tools. The person, who charged to perform those rituals,, aimed to influence the nature and its canons. These are called aniur (SISKUR/ SÎSKUR) in the Hittites texts. In the introduction and colophon parts of these rituals it is appeored to give place to the performers sexuality, his profession, to be where from and the ritual what's 'bout. And finally the tools that is used in, is ordered. The variety and the amount of these tools depens on the sacrifice masters economic and social status. These masters are selected among theking, the king and the queen, the high ranked officials. Also the person who hasn't got a good economic condition is to be make rituals. But for this reason the tools that wanted from them is appropriate to their economic structure charging rituals, person could also take some part of these tools which is brought by sacrifice master and used in the ritual action. The Hittites text dealing with the magic shows that it has got an important effect in Hittites world. By every kind of illness, the death of the king or the person who related with the royal family, the death as a reason of chewing the oath, killing someone, the spell, the gassip, the sexual relationship between the close relatives, seated to the trone, the purified rites that performs for the king and the queen, quarrelsome among the family members, disagreementsberween the friends; to be sweared the fidality oath to the soldiers, performed rite after a defeat, prufying mouth rite, unfruitfulness of vineyard, locust invasion and the much of like these events, they wanted to benefit from the magical force. Next to the positive influence, it could be prononciated the existance of the wicked spell in the Hittite society. Beneficial spell is applied by the every class of society, especially by the royal family. But wicked spell could be decided as a serious crime which is punished with the capital punishment in the Hittite laws. 297The role of spell began to be well ducumanted since the middle period of Hittite State. As a concept, spell is gone to the Hittites from the south and south-east of the Anatolia, where was speaking Luwian and Hurrian language, especially from Kizzuwatna. Hittites sorcery has etymologically a big importance, because of spell textes have a voluable etnology quality, that affecting and quoting all Anatolian believes. My thesis item is about rituals which was performed once by Mastigga from Kizzuwatna, until now five kind of ritual is ascertained that is belonged to her. We selected the one as a main ritual which is performed because of family quarrel among the five others rituals (eshar iia-, taknaz da-, LUara antuhsas LUaran antuhsan [katta] GUL-ahh-, idalus uddar-). In our work, we aimed to determine to quantity of copies of all these text; tocomplete the main text by using the copies; to finish the texts also by using their copies; by treating the philologic integration, to give the new translation of these texts and also to hold the light on to the value of these rituals in the Hittite spell rituals. 298
