Yeni Ufuklar dergisi perspektifinde Türkiye'de düşünce hayatı (1952-1965)

Abstract

The magazines that play an important role in the formation and widespread of the basic dynamics of the life of thought help us in taking the thought perspective of the years that they had been published. The magazine of Yeni Ufuklar which we had selected as the subject of our thesis had affected the world of Turkish thought for a long time between the years 1952 and 1976 as a magazine rich in terms of its contents and its editorial staff and had left a rich build up in terms of the years that it had been published.The political, economic and the social changes that had been experienced in Turkey had defined the publication policy of Yeni Ufuklar magazine. Between the years 1950 and 1960, Yeni Ufuklar magazine had attracted a lot of attention in respect of the importance that has been paid to the discussions that have been gone through in the fields of literature and thought. Instead of criticizing the political developments in these years when the Democratic Party (DP) had been in the government; the discussions that had been reflected in the field of thought had been examined in the magazine. The efforts for the revival of the understanding of thought of the other world that provides priority to the spiritual values in spite of the revolution by Atatürk had been opposed by Yeni Ufuklar magazine by defending reason and science. A summary of the infrastructure of the thoughts that have been defended by the magazine are as follows; a Westernization that demands the complete adoption of the Western civilization including and foremost its set of mentalities, the definition of the real intellectuals who cares about the benefit of the society and who fights for the enlightenment of the society, The Blue Anatolian who defend the integration of this country, and The Village Institutes that is duty is to cover all the above items. Between the years 1960 and 1965, the political developments that took place in Turkey also affected the magazine and our magazine had supported the openings towards the left views within the axis of increasing democratic liberties. The contents of the discussions of thought that had been the subjects of the magazine during the initial years had both been enriched and toughened. It is possible to observe the said enrichment and toughening in the articles of Sabahattin Eyuboğlu specifically. Still the economic and social subjects had been explicated that cover the agenda in a parallel line with the affect that had been brought by the left openings, the contents of the problems that turkey had to face had been defined and discussions have been made on what type of solutions could be found to such problems.
