Abstract
THE ISOLATION AND SEROEPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDIES OF IBR/IPV VIRUS ON COWS WITH FERTILITY PROBLEMS In this research, 624 serum samples obtained from both cows with fertility problems which have been brought to Gynocology Clinic of Veterinary Faculty of Ankara University and the animals having same problems of which produced in 20 dairy herds located in various regions of Turkey were tested for IBR/IPV antibodies using microneutralization assay. In addition, 381 vaginal swab, 411 heparinized blood and 7 plasental samples were passaged in susceptible cell lines in order to virus isolation. 425 (%68.10) of tested 624 serum samples by micro- neutralization assay were found to be positive for IBR/IPV virus neutralizing antibodies. However, the effective virus was not able to isolated from the specimens collected for virus isolation. The presence of IBR/IPV infection was detected in all of dairy herds and it was observed that incidence of the infection in selected herds was varied from 6.66% to 100%. Neutralizing dose 50 (NDso) values of the antibody carriers were found between 1:1.41-1:316. Although virus isolation could not be acheived, this research shows that IBR/IPV virus may be an etiological agent in fertility problems of cows, since high incidence against corresponding agent has been detected at herds.
