Abstract

Traditions, economical and political improvements and ?the most important ? religious rules have determined the place of woman in society in the history. As the time passed, the reasons such as industrialization, becoming widespread of education, wars and women?s entering to the working life have differentiated the status of woman in the society. Before Islam, in Turkish societies, woman was active in all parts of life. After Islam, because of to be interpreted some verses of the Koran to men?s favor, Byzantine and Iranian culture?s affecting to Turkish society have caused woman to leave social life slowly. This situation of Turkish women in society has been started to be discussed in the years 1839-1876 in Ottoman History. However, political and social rights have been given completely to Turkish woman in Republic Period. In 5 December 1934 it was given woman to select and to be selected the member of the Grand National Assembly. After this, with the first election 18 women deputies ?one of this with by election- have entered to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. In this way, women have found an opportunity to show themselves in political area. In this work, it has been studied to be examined the alteration process of Turkish woman in history, the education-instruction level of the first women deputies, their jobs, the languages they know, their marital status, their ages, the number of children they have and their political activities.
