Abstract
20 Mayıs 1919’da Sait Molla ve beraberindekiler ülkenin içinde bulunduğu olumsuz koşulları fırsat bilerek, üstelik dönemin “Cemiyetler Kanununa” uygun olmamasına rağmen Dahiliye Vekaletine beyannamesini vererek İngiliz Muhipleri Cemiyetini kurmuşlardır. İngiliz Muhipleri Cemiyeti üyelerinin temel fikri, vatanın içinde bulunduğu olumsuz koşullardan çıkarmanın öz kaynaklarla mümkün olmayacağını; kurtulu-şun ancak dönemin güçlü bir devletinin (İngiltere) himayesi ile mümkün olacağı idi. Cemiyetin savunduğu görüşler Milli Mücadeleye gönülden inananlar ve ka-tılanlarca ilgi görmemiştir. Ancak himaye meselesi basın hayatında yoğun tartış-malara neden olmuştur. Bu tartışmalar kısmen de olsa toplumda çalkantılara ne-den olmuş ve Milli Mücadelenin başarıya ulaşmasını engelleyememiş, lakin gecik-tirmiştir. Milli Mücadelenin başarısı ile ters orantılı olarak, İngiliz Muhipleri Cemi-yeti günden güne güç kaybetmiş; 6 Ekim 1921 tarihinde son kongresini yaparak bir daha toparlanamamıştır. Daha sonra ki dönemlerde kurulan İstiklal Mahke-meleri ile “Yüzellilikler” diye tabir edilen cemiyetin kurucu, yönetici ve üyeleri yargılanarak çeşitli cezalara çarptırılmış, bir kısmı da başta Said Molla olmak üzere ülke dışına kaçarak çalışmalarına devam etmiş olsalar da bir etkinlik sağlayamamışlardır.AbstractIn 20th may 1919, Said Molla and his friend by help of inconvenient circum-stance the country in, despite the Associations Law at the time against it, founded the England Friends Association by giving their declaration to Domestic Attorneyship. The main idea of the England Friends Association members was that the only salvation way of the country is the dominance of a powerful country (Eng-land) of the era , but the way of salvation with the self sources would not be able to be enough for them in such hard circumstances. The people who believed and joined the national struggle by heart didn’t show interest to Association’s ideas. But the matter of Dominance took part in dis-putes of the Press for a long time. These disputes caused uneasiness and discus-sions in society even if it was in a law rate and these couldn’t hinder the National Struggle’s success but delayed it for a short time. In reverse rate with success of National Struggle, the England Friends As-sociation lost power and after the last congress in 6th October 1921, it couldn’t re-cover once more. In later times so called “Yüzellilikler” (people with 150) Associa-tion and its members and founders were judged by the help of Independence Courts. They got different punishments and some of them escaped to abroad to go on their studies but they couldn’t show any efficiency.
