Item Comparison of surgical trends in zone 2 flexor tendon repair between Turkish and international surgeons(201) Unsal, Seyyid Serif; Spor Bilimleri FakültesiObjectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate Turkish trends in zone 2 flexor repair with regards to surgical technique, suture materials, anesthesia and post-operative rehabilitation and compare this with international surgeons by modifying Gibson's survey. Methods: A printed and online survey consisting of 19 questions modified from Gibson's survey was sent to 590 Turkish and international surgeons. The surgeon's years in practice, province of practice, residency type, number of zone 2 flexor tendon repairs done in a year, preferred surgical technique, suture material, complications and postoperative protocols were asked to the respondents. Results: A total of 194 surgeons completed the survey (a 25% response rate). Of those who completed the survey, 91 were international (mostly from far eastern countries) and 103 were Turkish surgeons. Years in practice and educational background had influence on the decision-making. There were differences between the Turkish and international surgeons in the core and epitendinous suture thickness preference and flexor tendon sheath repair. There was a statistically significant relationship between the province of practice and the use of WALANT (Wide awake local anesthesia no tourniquet) (p < 0.05). While the majority of respondents who preferred postoperative early passive motion protocol were from Turkey (61.5%), the majority of respondents who preferred early active motion protocol were practicing abroad (73.9%). Conclusion: Despite some variations the surgeons involved in this study follow to a large extent the current literature.Item A multicenter study of patients with adult-onset Still's disease compared with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis(2006) Kınıklı, Gülay; http://orcid.org/0000-0002-4006-1022; Tıp Fakültesi; Türkçapar, Nuran; Düzgün, Nurşen; Ölmez, Ümit; Tiryaki-Aydintuǧ, Olcay; Turgay, Murat; Duman, MuratAdult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) has often been regarded as the adult spectrum of systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA). The present study aims to compare the clinical and laboratory features, the disease course and the response to treatment in patients having AOSD with those having sJIA. Retrospective review of all available data that were filled out by adult and paediatric rheumatologists from six centers using a standard data extraction form was performed. A total of 95 patients with AOSD and 25 patients with sJIA were recruited for the study. The frequency of fever, rash, myalgia, weight loss and sore throat was higher in patients with AOSD. The pattern of joint involvement differed slightly. Laboratory findings were similar in both groups, except that liver dysfunction and neutrophilia were more common among adults. A multiphasic pattern dominated the childhood cases, whereas the most frequent course was a chronic one in adults. Corticosteroids and methotrexate were the most commonly employed therapy; however, chloroquine was another popular therapy in the adult group. We showed a difference in the rate of clinical and laboratory features between patients with AOSD and those with sJIA. AOSD and sJIA may still be the same disease, and children may simply be reacting differently as the result of the first encounter of the putative antigens with the immune system. © Clinical Rheumatology 2006.Item Effects of rheumatoid factor isotypes on disease activity and severity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: A comparative study(2007) Kınıklı, Gülay; http://orcid.org/0000-0002-4006-1022; Tıp Fakültesi; Ateş, Aşkın; Turgay, Murat; Akay, Gülay; Tokgöz, GünerThe value of rheumatoid factor (RF) isotypes for assessing rheumatoid arthritis (RA) remains debatable. In this study, we have examined the relationships between RF isotypes and disease activity and severity in RA patients. Sixty-two patients with RA, 48 women and 14 men, were studied. RF was measured by nephelometry (RF-N) and IgG-, Ig-, and IgM-RF isotypes were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Serum C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate were also determined. The patients were classified according to disease activity, joint damage, functional status, and presence of pulmonary involvement, rheumatoid nodule, and secondary Sjögren's syndrome. Although the patients with active disease had significantly higher IgA-RF and IgM-RF levels compared to inactive patients, IgA-RF and IgM-RF were not found to be independently associated with disease activity in multivariate analysis. In patients with severe joint damage, IgA-RF and RF-N were significantly higher than those of the other patients. Multiple regression analysis showed that IgA-RF was the unique variable independently associated to severe joint damage. The patients with class III and IV functional index had significantly higher IgM-RF, IgA-RF, and RF-N levels compared to the patients with class I and II functional index; however, RFs were not significantly associated with functional status in multivariate analysis. IgA-RF and IgM-RF were significantly associated with pulmonary involvement and rheumatoid nodule, respectively. No significant associations were found between RF isotypes and secondary Sjögren's syndrome. Our results suggest that the clinical usefulness of IgA and IgM isotypes is better than RF-N. Elevated IgA-RF may be a marker of erosive disease. The usefulness of RF isotypes for monitoring disease activity or functional status appears to be limited. © Clinical Rheumatology 2006.Item Central nervous system lymphoma in a patient with sjogren's syndrome and autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's thyroiditis)(2007) Kınıklı, Gülay; http://orcid.org/0000-0002-4006-1022; Tıp Fakültesi; Tanju, Sumru; Savaş, Ali; Kaygusuz, GüļsahWe present a case of central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma in a patient with Sjogren's syndrome (SS) and autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's thyroiditis) overlap. A 60-year-old woman, who had the diagnosis of SS for 16 years, had been admitted for visual loss, fever, weight and appetite loss for 3 months. Cranial magnetic resonance imaging was in accordance with CNS lymphoma, and biopsy from right parietal region showed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the CNS. This is the first report of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the CNS in SS and autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's thyroiditis) overlap. © Clinical Rheumatology 2007.Item The role of HLA-DRB1 shared epitope alleles in predicting short-term response to leflunomide in rheumatoid arthritis(2007) Kınıklı, Gülay; http://orcid.org/0000-0002-4006-1022; Tıp FakültesiObjectives: To investigate the role of shared epitope (SE) alleles in the short-term clinical response to leflunomide for the treatment of active RA. Methods: In an open-label, multi-centre study of 16-weeks duration, 93 patients (82% female) fulfilling ARA 1987 RA criteria were treated with leflunomide (100 mg loading dose for 3 days, then 20 mg/day as the maintenance dose). The primary efficacy criterion was the response status according to the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) response criteria using Disease Activity Score-28 (DAS28) activity measure. SE determinations have been undertaken by polymerase chain reaction and sequence-specific oligonucleotide genotyping methods. Results: The mean (s.d.) Disease Activity Score-28 (DAS28) was 5.1 (1.3) before the treatment, which was significantly decreased after 16 weeks [3.0 (1.1), P < 0.001]. According to the EULAR response criteria, 55 patients (59.1%) were classified as good responders. SE was positive in 51 (54.8%) of the patients, with 13 (13.9%) having SE homozygosity or carrying any two SE alleles. Among SE-positive patients, 68.6% (35/51) were good responders, compared with 47.6% (20/42) in SE negatives (P = 0.04). No difference was present according to SE hetero- or homozygosity (68.4 vs 69.2%). RF was also present significantly more frequently in the SE-positive group compared with negatives (78.4 vs 57.1%, P = 0.03). However, no significant difference was observed in the prevalence of RF positivity in patients with a good clinical response (72.7 vs 63.2%, P = 0.32). Conclusions: The results suggest that HLA-DRB1 SE presence may favourably affect the outcome of leflunomide monotherapy in an unselected group of RA patients with an active disease and naive to leflunomide. © The Author 2007. Methods: We evaluated 105 adult FMF patients (with or without amyloidosis, 33 and 72, respectively) along with 107 healthy controls who were neither related to the patients nor had a family history of FMF or Behcet's disease. After recording the demographic and clinical data, the predominant mutations in the MEFV gene locus (M694V, M680I, V726A, M694I, and E148Q) were investigated by direct sequencing. MICA transmembrane polymorphisms in exon 5 were studied by vertical gel electrophoresis and fragment analysis of the amplicons obtained from MICA locus with appropriate primers. Results: Earlier age at onset, increased frequency of attacks, arthritis attacks, erysipelas-like erythema, increased severity scores and amyloidosis were significantly more common in M694V homozygous patients compared to the patients not M694V homozygous (P = 0.005, OR 4.55; P = 0.001, OR 7.60; P = 0.003, OR 4.57; P = 0.002, OR 7.58; P = 0.004, OR 5.15 and P = 0.018, OR 3.33, respectively). We did not detect any modifying effects of MICA alleles as an independently risk factor on the amyloidosis development. However, when we examined the effects of MICA alleles on the course of the disease and development of amyloidosis in the M694V homozygous patients, A5 allele had a protective effect against the development of amyloidosis (P = 0.038, OR adj 0.26 with A5 and P = 0.009, OR adj 4.42 without A5). Conclusion: Though the effects of the MEFV genotypes seem clear, there are definitely other modifying factors or genes on the development of amyloidosis and on the course of the disease. For example, some MICA alleles have a protective effect on the prognostic factors in FMF. © 2006 Springer-Verlag.Item Neonatal effects of thyroid diseases in pregnancy and approach to the infant with increased TSH: Turkish Neonatal and Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Societies consensus report(2018) Şıklar, Zeynep; Tıp FakültesiThyroid functions in the fetus and newborn carry importance in terms of the baby's health and development of the central nervous system. Maternaliodine deficiency, exposure to iodine, thyroid diseases (Hashimoto thyroiditis, Graves') and drugs used by the mother affect thyroid functions in the fetus. Reflections of these effects are observed immediately after delivery. Investigation of the mother in terms of thyroid diseases during pregnancy, recognition and appropriate assessment of the required conditions, screening of all newborns in the first days of life in terms of congenital hypothyroidism, timely and appropriate evaluation of the screening results, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of cases of congenital hypothyroidism, assessment and management of cases of transient thyroid hormone disorders and close monitoring of the thyroid functions and development of patients in whom treatment has been initiated with a diagnosis of hypothyroidism are crucial in terms of developmental outcomes of the babies who have thyroid function disorders or hypothyroidism. This guideline was written with the objective of guiding pediatricians, neonatologists and pediatric endocrinologists in the issue of assessment, diagnosis and management of thyroid function disorders and thyroid diseases concerning the fetus and baby during gestation and neonatal period.Item Essentials in the Comprehensive Management of Chronic Respiratory Diseases: Airway Clearance and Vaccination(2018) Önen, Zeynep Pınar; Tıp FakültesiItem Dose-, treatment- and time-dependent toxicity of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles on primary rat hepatocytes(2018) Bestepe, Furkan; Tıp FakültesiAim: As a first study in literature, to investigate concentration-dependent (0-400 μg/ml) and exposure-dependent (single dosing vs cumulative dosing) effects of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (d = 10 nm) on primary rat hepatocytes in a time-dependent manner. Materials & methods: Sandwich-cultured hepatocyte model was used to evaluate viability, hepatocyte specific functions and reactive oxygen species level. Results: In terms of all parameters, generally statistically more significant effects were observed in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. In terms of hepatocyte-specific functions, cumulative dosing caused significantly (p < 0.05) more deleterious effects at 48th hour. Conclusion: A combination of various biomarkers should be employed for the evaluation of the effect of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles on liver, and each biomarker should be analyzed in a time- and exposure-dependent manner.Item Insights on Multiple Myeloma Treatment Strategies(2018) Beksac, Meral; Tıp FakültesiThe introduction of new agents and management strategies over the past decade has resulted in a major step change in treatment outcomes with deepening responses and increased survival for patients with multiple myeloma. In daily clinical practice, healthcare professionals are now faced with challenges including, optimal treatment sequencing and changing treatment goals. In light of this, a group of experts met to discuss diagnostic and treatment guidelines, examine current clinical practice, and consider how new clinical trial data may be integrated into the management of multiple myeloma in the future.Item Antiphospholipid antibodies and non-thrombotic manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus(SAGE Publications Ltd, 2018) Kınıklı, Gülay; Dinçer, Ayşe Bahar Keleşoğlu; Tıp Fakültesi; İlgen, Ufuk; Yayla, Müçteba Enes; Ateş, Aşkın; Okatan, İ. E.; Yurteri, Emine uslu; Torğutalp, Murat; Turgay, Tahsin MuratObjectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the association between antiphospholipid antibodies and non-thrombotic and non-gestational manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus. Methods: Systemic lupus erythematosus patients with persistently positive antiphospholipid antibodies or lupus anticoagulant were identified and grouped as systemic lupus erythematosus with antiphospholipid syndrome (SLE-APS), systemic lupus erythematosus with positive antiphospholipid antibodies/lupus anticoagulant without antiphospholipid syndrome (SLE-aPL), and systemic lupus erythematosus with negative aPLs (SLE-No aPL). Groups were compared in terms of non-thrombotic systemic lupus erythematosus manifestations and laboratory features retrospectively. Results: A total of 150 systemic lupus erythematosus patients, 26 with SLE-APS, 25 with SLE-aPL, and 99 with SLE-No aPL, were identified. Livedo reticularis, neurologic involvement, and thrombocytopenia were more common in antiphospholipid antibody positive systemic lupus erythematosus cases. Malar rash, arthritis, and pleuritis were more common in the SLE-No aPL, SLEAPS, and SLE-aPL groups, respectively. Positivity rates and titers of specific antiphospholipid antibodies did not differ between the SLE-APS and SLE-aPL groups. Conclusions: Presence of antiphospholipid syndrome or persistent antiphospholipid antibodies may be related to non-thrombotic and non-gestational systemic lupus erythematosus manifestations. Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus plus antiphospholipid syndrome and persistent antiphospholipid antibodies without antiphospholipid syndrome also differ in terms of systemic lupus erythematosus manifestations.Item Comparison of the Accuracy of Manual and Digital Cephalometric Prediction Methods in Orthognathic Surgical Planning: A Pilot Study(2018) Arslan, Can; Diş Hekimliği FakültesiObjective: To compare and evaluate the reliability of manual and digital cephalometric prediction methods in orthognathic surgical planning. Methods: Ten adults (5 females and 5 males) with skeletal class III malocclusion were included. The mean patient age was 21.97 years. Pre- to postoperative changes were evaluated using paired t-test. Manual surgical predictions made by tracing on acetate paper and digital predictions made using computer software were compared with actual postoperative values using intraclass correlation coefficient and root mean square. Results: Statistically significant changes were observed in SNA, SNB, ANB, U1i-FH, and Nperp-A following bimaxillary orthognathic surgery (p<0.001). Postoperative changes in Co-A and Nperp-Pg were statistically significant (p<0.05). Comparison of manual and digital surgical predictions with actual postoperative values revealed that overbite and overjet showed the lowest agreements. Manual predictions were less accurate for points that were difficult to distinguish (Co and U6). Skeletal predictions were more accurate than dental predictions. Conclusion: Parameters with low reproducibility (Co and U6) decrease the reliability of predictions. Dental predictions were inaccurate in both methods due to the effects of intermaxillary elastics, but both methods yielded similar predictions for skeletal parameters. The impact of applying strong elastics for postoperative intermaxillary fixation should be considered when making surgical predictions.Item Search for heavy particles decaying into top-quark pairs using lepton-plus-jets events in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector(2018) Yıldız, Hatice Duran; Hızlandırıcı Teknolojileri EnstitüsüA search for new heavy particles that decay into top-quark pairs is performed using data collected from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The integrated luminosity of the data sample is 36.1 fb(-1). Events consistent with top-quark pair production are selected by requiring a single isolated charged lepton, missing transverse momentum and jet activity compatible with a hadronic top-quark decay. Jets identified as likely to contain b-hadrons are required to reduce the background from other Standard Model processes. The invariant mass spectrum of the candidate top-quark pairs is examined for local excesses above the background expectation. No significant deviations from the Standard Model predictions are found. Exclusion limits are set on the production cross-section times branching ratio for hypothetical Z' bosons, Kaluza-Kein gluons and Kaluza-Klein gravitons that decay into top-quark pairs.Item Toxoplasmosis in Transplant Recipients, Europe, 2010–2014(2018) Akan, Hamdi; Tıp FakültesiTransplantation activity is increasing, leading to a growing number of patients at risk for toxoplasmosis. We reviewed toxoplasmosis prevention practices, prevalence, and outcomes for hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and solid organ transplant (SOT; heart, kidney, or liver) patients in Europe. We collected electronic data on the transplant population and prevention guidelines/regulations and clinical data on toxoplasmosis cases diagnosed during 2010-2014. Serologic pretransplant screening of allo-hematopoietic stem cell donors was performed in 80% of countries, screening of organ donors in 100%. SOT recipients were systematically screened in 6 countries. Targeted anti-Toxoplasma chemoprophylaxis was heterogeneous. A total of 87 toxoplasmosis cases were recorded (58 allo-HSCTs, 29 SOTs). The 6-month survival rate was lower among Toxoplasma-seropositive recipients and among allo-hematopoietic stem cell and liver recipients. Chemoprophylaxis improved outcomes for SOT recipients. Toxoplasmosis remains associated with high mortality rates among transplant recipients. Guidelines are urgently needed to standardize prophylactic regimens and optimize patient management.Item Human IFN-γ immunity to mycobacteria is governed by both IL-12 and IL-23(2018) Dogu, Figen; Tıp FakültesiHundreds of patients with autosomal recessive, complete IL-12p40 or IL-12Rβ1 deficiency have been diagnosed over the last 20 years. They typically suffer from invasive mycobacteriosis and, occasionally, from mucocutaneous candidiasis. Susceptibility to these infections is thought to be due to impairments of IL-12-dependent IFN-γ immunity and IL-23-dependent IL-17A/IL-17F immunity, respectively. We report here patients with autosomal recessive, complete IL-12Rβ2 or IL-23R deficiency, lacking responses to IL-12 or IL-23 only, all of whom, unexpectedly, display mycobacteriosis without candidiasis. We show that αβ T, γδ T, B, NK, ILC1, and ILC2 cells from healthy donors preferentially produce IFN-γ in response to IL-12, whereas NKT cells and MAIT cells preferentially produce IFN-γ in response to IL-23. We also show that the development of IFN-γ-producing CD4+ T cells, including, in particular, mycobacterium-specific TH1* cells (CD45RA-CCR6+), is dependent on both IL-12 and IL-23. Last, we show that IL12RB1, IL12RB2, and IL23R have similar frequencies of deleterious variants in the general population. The comparative rarity of symptomatic patients with IL-12Rβ2 or IL-23R deficiency, relative to IL-12Rβ1 deficiency, is, therefore, due to lower clinical penetrance. There are fewer symptomatic IL-23R- and IL-12Rβ2-deficient than IL-12Rβ1-deficient patients, not because these genetic disorders are rarer, but because the isolated absence of IL-12 or IL-23 is, in part, compensated by the other cytokine for the production of IFN-γ, thereby providing some protection against mycobacteria. These experiments of nature show that human IL-12 and IL-23 are both required for optimal IFN-γ-dependent immunity to mycobacteria, both individually and much more so cooperatively.Item Diagnostic and Prognostic Role of Serum Interleukin-6 in Malignant Transformation of Liver Cirrhosis(2018) Özkan, Hasan; Tıp FakültesiAim: Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is still the most commonly used and the single most recommended marker in the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Interleukin (IL)-6 is a circular cytokine and its role on carcinogenesis in various hematological and solid tumors is clearly documented. A combination of serum IL-6 and AFP may provide beneficial information regarding early diagnosis of HCC. In this study, the effect of plasma IL-6 level in the diagnosis of HCC was investigated. Materials and methods: A total of 130 patients with liver cirrhosis, together with 30 control cases were enrolled in the trial. A diagnosis of HCC was present in 75 patients (57.6%) in the liver cirrhosis group. Blood samples were obtained from the enrolled study and control cases. Alpha-fetoprotein was quantified by chemiluminescent method. Plasma IL-6 levels of samples obtained at -80°C were quantified by human IL-6 BMS213/2 BMS213/2TEN kit. Results: The HCC patients were older than the patients in the cirrhosis group (p = 0.016). On comparison of the HCC patients with the control group, AFP (p < 0.001) and IL-6 (p < 0.001) were significantly higher among the HCC patients. Comparison of HCC patients with liver cirrhosis cases with no diagnosis of HCC revealed significantly high AFP (p < 0.001) and IL-6 levels (p < 0.001) in HCC group. Cutoff value for IL-6 was calculated as 5.73 (pg/mL). No difference was detected in AFP (p = 0.600) and IL-6 (0.344) in all three subgroups. A total of 17 patients died during a mean follow-up period of 32.9 months. No correlation was found between mean AFP values and IL-6 values and survival rates. Conclusion: Plasma IL-6 level was found to be significant in the diagnosis of HCC. Alpha-fetoprotein and IL-6 provided no advantage in terms of early diagnosis of HCC and no correlation was observed between these markers and survival. How to cite this article: Yakut M, Özkan H, Karakaya MF, Erdal H. The analysis is based on 36.1 fb−1 of √s = 13 TeV proton– proton collisions recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Several scenarios based on simplified models are considered. These include the associated production of the next-to-lightest neutralino and the lightest chargino, followed by their decays into final states with leptons and the lightest neutralino via either sleptons or Standard Model gauge bosons; direct production of chargino pairs, which in turn decay into leptons and the lightest neutralino via intermediate sleptons; and slepton pair production, where each slepton decays directly into the lightest neutralino and a lepton. No significant deviations from the Standard Model expectation are observed and stringent limits at 95% confidence level are placed on the masses of relevant supersymmetric particles in each of these scenarios. For a massless lightest neutralino, masses up to 580 GeV are excluded for the associated production of the next-to-lightest neutralino and the lightest chargino, assuming gauge-boson mediated decays, whereas for slepton-pair production masses up to 500 GeV are excluded assuming three generations of mass-degenerate sleptons. © CERN for the benefit of the ATLAS collaboration 2018.Item Penile Doppler ultrasonography and elastography evaluation in patients with erectile dysfunction(2018) Altinbas, Namik Kemal; Tıp FakültesiPurpose: To evaluate the relationship between erection grade, erectile function score, Doppler ultrasonography (US) indexes, and elasticity score (ES) according to Doppler US diagnosis in patients with erectile dysfunction (ED). Material and methods: Real-time strain type penile elastography was performed during penile Doppler US examination for 88 patients with ED. The diagnosis according to Doppler US was determined. Erection score according to the Erection Hardness Grading Scale was evaluated. A scoring for erectile function was performed with the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5), and the Sexual Health Inventory for Men (SHIM) was defined. The relationships, according to Doppler diagnosis, of ES, IIEF-5 score, SHIM scale, and erection score were evaluated. Results: Among the patients, 50 (57%) had abnormal penile Doppler US findings. According to Doppler US findings, patients were classified as normal (n = 38), borderline for arterial insufficiency (n = 4), arterial insufficiency (n = 5), and venous insufficiency (n = 41). The lowest erection hardness grades and IIEF-5 scores were detected in patients with arterial failure. When compared to the normal group, in terms of ES, the arterial failure borderline group and venous failure group had lower scores, and the arterial failure group had a higher score. However, the only significant difference was obtained in the left cavernous body of the venous failure group. Conclusions: Sonoelastography seems to add additional value for determination of stiffness of the penile cavernous body in routine evaluation of ED.Item Search for new phenomena using the invariant mass distribution of same-flavour opposite-sign dilepton pairs in events with missing transverse momentum in root s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector(2018) Çakır, Orhan; Yıldız, Hatice Duran; Fen Fakültesi; Hızlandırıcı Teknolojileri EnstitüsüA search for new phenomena in final states containing an e(+)e(-) or m(+)m(-) pair, jets, and large missing transverse momentum is presented. This analysis makes use of proton-proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1), collected during 2015 and 2016 at a centre of-mass energy Os = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The search targets the pair production of supersymmetric coloured particles (squarks or gluinos) and their decays into final states containing an e(+)e(-) or m(+)m(-) pair and the lightest neutralino ((c) over tilde (0)(1)) via one of two next-to-lightest neutralino ((c) over tilde (0)(2)) decay mechanisms: (c) over tilde (0)(2) Z (c) over tilde (0)(1), where the Z boson decays leptonically leading to a peak in the dilepton invariant mass distribution around the Z boson mass; and (c) over tilde (0)(2) l(+)1(-) (c) over tilde (0)(1) with no intermediate l(+)l(-) resonance, yielding a kinematic endpoint in the dilepton invariant mass spectrum. The data are found to be consistent with the Standard Model expectation. Results are interpreted using simplified models, and exclude gluinos and squarks with masses as large as 1.85 and 1.3 TeV at 95% confidence level, respectively.Item Wavelet Transform-Based UV Spectroscopy for Pharmaceutical Analysis(2018) Dinç, Erdal; Eczacılık FakültesiIn research and development laboratories, chemical or pharmaceutical analysis has been carried out by evaluating sample signals obtained from instruments. However, the qualitative and quantitative determination based on raw signals may not be always possible due to sample complexity. In such cases, there is a need for powerful signal processing methodologies that can effectively process raw signals to get correct results. Wavelet transform is one of the most indispensable and popular signal processing methods currently used for noise removal, background correction, differentiation, data smoothing and filtering, data compression and separation of overlapping signals etc. This review article describes the theoretical aspects of wavelet transform (i.e., discrete, continuous and fractional) and its characteristic applications in UV spectroscopic analysis of pharmaceuticals.
