    Comparing the language curriculums of Turkey and Ireland

    The aim of this research was, to compare the 2005 Language (Turkish) Curriculum for Primary Schools to Ireland's Language Curriculum (English) in terms of their objectives, content, learning and teaching process, and evaluation process. In this research, survey method has been used since the aim of this research was to describe the existing situation. Since the research aims at comparing the similarities and differences of the 2005 Language Curriculum in Turkey to Language Curriculum in Ireland; population and samples were not identified. In the scope of the research, data were gathered through document analysis of the curriculums and literature research. In this research, the 2005 Language (Turkish) Curriculum for Primary Schools is compared to Ireland's Language Curriculum (English) in terms of their objectives, content, learning and teaching process, and evaluation process. Finally the findings of the research have been interpreted, and results and suggestions were written through the findings. © 2009.

    Preservice teachers' attitudes towards cooperative learning ın mathematics course

    Research on classroom cooperative learning techniques, in which students work in small groups and receive rewards or recognition based on their group performance, has been increasing in the past few years. This study aims to examine the attitudes of prospective teachers towards cooperative learning and its potential effects on teacher candidates through collecting data qualitatively via questionnaire and interview. The outcomes from the questionnaires formed the interview structure. The interviews were explored by content analysis. The findings of the study supports the utility of cooperative learning methods in general for increasing student achievement, positive race relations, mutual concern among students, student self-esteem, and other positive outcomes. Prospective teachers seem to have positive attitudes towards courses that integrated cooperative learning stages. © 2009.
