    Sinema ve imaj üretimi: ABD ordusu ve Türk ordusunun 2000 sonrası filmlerdeki imajları üzerine bir karşılaştırma

    This study aimed to make a comparison between image of American military in American-made films about American military and image of Turkish military in Turkish-made films about Turkish military. For this purpose, in the first part of the research cinema as an industry and message carrier and image as an message carrier were discussed.Then, because of research?s focus is images of militaries on cinema, it is emphasized on the importance of image manufacturing and consent manufacturing and usage of cinema for this goals.Secondly, the relationship of American and Turkish militaries with the cinema industries in their own country and films made about military were examined historically. First of all, the symbiotic relationship between Pentagon and Hollywood, the emergence and progress of this relationship were discussed in historical perspective. Then, the relationship which began in very early years like 1919 between Turkish armed forces and Turkish cinema, the progress of this relationship, and films made about military were analyzed historically.In the research part, 10 Turkish-made, 10 American-made films which released in 2000 and 2011 were examined by qualitative content analysis. It is found that American and Turkish films differ in terms of their genres, presentation of military, the conflict situation and the endings. This difference in American and Turkish films generates the difference in image of American military and Turkish military in these films.
