Our study consists of an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion. İn introduction. The title of this research is "the Comparison of the Moral Conceptions of Plato and al-Ghazali". In this thesis, the study conducted aiming to show the similarities and the differences between those two philosophers's views. Objects to be studied are the definition of the concept of soul/self and three elements of it, namely the appetite, the spirited, the mind (nous), as well virtue can be counted in. The virtues related to these three souls are as follows: modesty is the virtue of the appetite. The courage is the one linked to the virtue of spirited, while the wisdom is the virtue of mind. In conclusion, justice is the highest virtue that contributes to these three elements and for reaching the maturity. This study is an attempt to show religious aspect of al-Ghazali's thought about the soul and how he interpreted the Quran verses to match it. Nevertheless, Plato's great impact on al-Ghazali is very clear. His division of the soul/self into three parts is somehow similar to Plato's. All in all, although al-Ghazali is a Muslim thinker, he was greatly influenced by other philosophers and especially Plato.tr_TR
