In this research; it has been tried to determine whether there is a relation between the level writing skills and success at school for fifth graders at primary schools, or not. The research has been processed with three base problems. Lis there a relation between the level of writing skills and success at Maths lessons for fifth graders at primary schools? 2. Is there a relation between the level of writing skills and success at Science lessons for fifth graders at primary schools? 3.1s there a relation between the level of writing skills and success at Social studies lessons for fifth graders at primary schools? The population of the research is in the district of the fifth graders of the primary schools in Çankaya. The sample has been chosen among the schools in Çankaya randomly. The data was collected in three phases. In the first phase, the test of writing skills, which has 30 questions and improvised by the researcher has been used. In the second phase, students were asked to write a composition. These compositions were appraised by an expert, a primary inspector and by researcher. In the third and last phase, the yearly Maths, Science and Social studies marks were taken from the class teacher by the researcher. The obtained test scores, composition scores and yearly scores were appraised through SPSS. The relation between writing skills and success at Maths, Science and social studies has been analyzed by regression. The two variables, which were taken as predictors were tested through multiple regression analysis to see to what extend the three lessons ( Math, Science, Social studies) were affected. According to the findings in the research a significant and positive relation has been found between the level of writing skills and success at school for the fifth graders at primary schools As a result, the importance of writing skills is obvious at learning and teaching the mother tongue. However it's understood that writing is not only an element of Turkish lessons but also a factor which con not be ignored. From this point of view more importance should be given to writing skills the programs which are prepared for primary schools.
