This study aims to examine the works of Behiç Ak in children's literature with respect to appropriateness for children. Selected using a purposive sampling method, nine works of the author intended for pre-school children were examined through a descriptive approach. Firstly, the researcher constructed a theoretical framework encompassing the relationship between literature and education, children's literature, the importance of books with visuals for pre-school children and appropriateness for children. Then, in line with principles of appropriateness for children, the works in question were evaluated based on appropriateness for children, particularly with respect to design (ie., dimensions, paper, cover and binding, page design, letters and pictures), content (ie., subject, theme, message, character, language and style) and instructional properties. According to the findings of the study; It was found that the bindings of all works were not made by rope (stitch) to help children interact with the book longer. Therefore, It was concluded that the bindings of the books were not appropriate for children. In the books entitled ''Marbles'', ''The Cloud That Entered a Skyscrapper'', ''Cat Island'', ''City Above the Wind'', ''A Sleepwalking Elephant'' and ''Plane Tree with High Blood Pressure'', It was found that there were enough mangins around the texts to help children read and watch the book comfortably, but there were not enough margins around the pictures. In some visuals depicting the city life in the book entitled ''My Grandma and the Short Sighted Dragon'', It was found that the pictures were not simple for children to draw easily because of the abundance of the elements and the complexity of the lines. Therefore, It was concluded that some pictures of the book could not be watched by the children comfortably. The books entitled ''Cat Island'' and ''City above the Wind'' lacked an apparent protagonist that the children could identify themselves easily with. Also, it was seen that there were some spelling mistakes in ''A Sleepwalking Elephant'' and all the characters were male in the book entitled ''A Dolphin in the Black Sea''. Globally considered, all the books examined are in line with the principles of the appropriateness for children with respect to design, content and instructional properties.tr_TR
