In the early years of the Turkish Republic, Ahmet Avni Konuk emphasized the contemplative dimension of Sufism with his works, by his translations and commentaries he conveyed Ottoman Sufism to the present day and this thesis aims to find out the Sufi scholar's contribution to the gnostic tradition. A sufficient research hasn't been conducted about Ahmet Avni Konuk until now and his contribution to the field of Sufism is intended to be included in the present Sufism studies through this research. In this thesis, his life, his mystical personality, different aspects of his academic personality have been revealed through examining the people who affect his Sufi discipline, and finally the works of his commentaries have been screened, mystical vision obtained through these works are evaluated with a detail. Konuk who dedicated his whole life to the translation and commentary of Ekhbarîya ve Mawlavî traditions' major works where the central issue is the thought of "wahdat al wujud- Unity of Existence." Under the roof of this thought, he reconciled Ibn Arabi and Rumi in his works. This effort which requires a broad knowledge and experience has been successfully concluded by him and by this way Rumi and Ibn Arabi readings gained a new perspective. In addition to this, his efforts conduced to the re-reading of these works. Due to above mentioned reasons, it is thought that Konuk has to be remembered as an important scholar by sufi peripheries.
