Karmaşık yas: Bilişsel-davranışçı model çerçevesinde bir inceleme
Özet
The aim of the present study is to examine the variables that play role in the complicated grief process within the framework of cognitive-behavioral model. The sample of the study consisted of 475 people. Inventory of Complicated Grief, Depressive and Anxious Avoidance in Prolonged Grief Questionnaire, Grief Cognitions Questionnaire, Autobiographical Memory Characteristics Scale, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale and Beck Depression Inventory were used to collect data. The preliminary study was conducted to adapt the Depressive and Anxious Avoidance in Prolonged Grief Questionnaire (DAAPGQ) to Turkish with 123 participants. The results indicated that the Turkish version of DAAPGQ has sufficient psychometric properties. In the scope of the main study, results showed that women, participants with low education level, those who perceive social support as less comforting and those who have weak religious or spiritual belief have more grief-related symptoms. Second, the model proposed to explain the complicated grief process was tested using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with AMOS v23. The last model was found to better fit the data. Accordingly, grief cognitions and autobiographical memory characteristics have direct effect on complicated grief. At the same time, grief cognitions and autobiographical memory characteristics play mediating role between characteristics of loss, relationship with the deceased, emotion regulation difficulties and complicated grief. Consequently, this thesis examines the complicated grief process which is not widely studied in our country. Therefore, this study hopes to provide a unique contribution to the literature and guidance that could be useful for clinical interventions.
