ilkokul çocuklarına yönelik ihmal ve istismarı önleme: Bir anababa eğitim programının değerlendirilmesi
Özet
The purpose of this study is to develop a parent training programme to prevent child abuse and neglect and examine it's effect on the parents who have children attending elementary school. In this study, the pre-test/post-test control group experimental design has been applied. The parents who attended to a variety of courses at Bademlidere Çankaya House within Çankaya Municipality has been reached via school counsellors, and they form the research sample. The data collected from 55 mothers. Of the 55 mothers, 30 were in experiment and 25 were in control groups. The programme consists three sessions and each of them lasts approximately in two hours. During the data collection process, mothers completed a) "Recognition of Emotional Maltreatment Scale (REMS)" before and three weeks after the training completed , b) "Parental Information Questionairre (PIQ)" which has developed by the researcher to evaluate the knowledge of neglect and abuse, c) Seven open-ended questions in both groups. Additionally, two more open-ended questions were asked to the experiment group. The t-test results indicated that the post-test total score of REMS (t(52) = -3.79, p<.05) for the experimental and control groups and the sub dimension of High Expectation (t(53) = -4.91, p<.05) have demonstrated that experimental gruop were more recognizant of emotional maltreatment than control group. The participants in experimental group demonstrated a significant difference in both pre and post test scores in REMS total score (t(29) = 6.65, p<.05) and the sub dimension of High Expectation (t(29)= 7.00, p<.05). The ANCOVA demonstrated that REMS scores were statistically significant on both REMS total score (F(1.51)= 21.19, p<.05) and the sub-dimension of High-Expectation (F(1.52)= 27.65, p<.0.5) when the pretest scores were controlled. The PIQ results were evaluated through frequency and percentage calculations. The rate of accurate responds by the experiment group have displayed a raise in the post test (preliminary test X =44.90 SS= 6.16, eventual test X=55.75, SS =6.29) whereas with respect to the control group, there were not a significant difference between the pre and post test responds (preliminary test X= 46.72, SS=5.52, eventual test X =48.36, SS =5.09). The responds given to the open-ended qualitative questions were analyzed by means of a descriptive qualitative analysis. The results have implied to the fact that the experimental group has seemingly furthered their scope of information pertaining to the subject while there was barely any difference respectively in the control group's responds to the pre and post test questions. Analyses revealed that the experimental group demonstrated remarkably extention on their knowledge and awareness about the neglect and abuse practised against children. As a consequence, the present programme may contribute to the prevention of neglect and abuse of children by being carried out by the schools that can reach the parents and in all other educational institutions.
