Kuruluşundan (M. Ö. 129) İmparator Diocletianus'a kadar (M. S. 284) Asia eyaleti tarihine toplu bakış
Özet
The establishment process of Province of Asia started with the death of Attalos III, faithful ally of Rome, in BC 133. Attalos III appointed the people of Rome as heir to his lands and treasury. Heirdom was accepted by Rome, and Province of Asia (=Provincia Asia ) was founded on the lands of Kingdom of Pergamon. Thus, Rome passed from indirect administration (=protectio) to direct administration (=provincia) in the west of Asia Minor. Rome gave the best example of divide and rule (=divide et impera) policy. Only this way can it control Hellenic cities which were far ahead of it culturally. Whereas Rome solved its economic problems during Republican Period by the means of exploitating richness of Province of Asia, provincials were grounded down by this burden. Afterwards, in times of Imperial Period, the general welfare of Rome rebounded to the Province of Asia too and cities flourished. The main purpose of this thesis can be states as; when viewed from Anatolian standpoint, to define Rome and Romans on the one hand and to present dynamism of the ancient Anatolian culture and history on the other hand.Key Words: Anatolia, Province of Asia, Roman History, Roman Republic Period, Principatus Period.
