Abstract
In this study, the role of social movements on establishing political is investigated through Landless Rural Workers Movement in Brazil. The propose of the study is to reveal the results what social movements will create against established and institutional politics. The study introduced a threefood analysis. İn first part, the relationship between social movements and institutional politics is analyzed in theoretical dimensions. In second part of the study, the development of social movements in Latin America and their relationships with established politics are examined. And the third part of the study analyses the Landless Rural Workers' Movement of Brazil (MST) by showing its important characteristics, historical development and forms of struggle. The MST offers an alternative world in its settlements and maintains its struggle to transform the established system.
