The core purpose of this study is to scrutinize the link between premenstrual syndrome and body image, stress, locus of control, mental health and socioeconomic status. For this purpose a Personal Information Form and Socioeconomic Status Inventory, Body Image Inventory, Short Symptom Inventory, Locus of Control Scale, Stress Self-Assessment Checklist were applied on 417 high school and university students of which 207 were high school students; and 205 were university students. The findings were analyzed by means of the SPSS programme.Within the study of differentiating between the premenstrual syndrome the analysis with the t Test of mentrual period, education level, mothers? and fathers? health care, mothers? gynaecological diseases history, gynaecological diseases history of fathers? family, socioeconomical status with the inventory sum points correlation and regression analyses applied on premenstrual syndrome were investigated.The findings of the study are summed up as follows:1.Significant correlations between the participants? premenstrual syndrome and psychological well-being, education level, place that grow up, body image, locus of control, feelings in menarche period, mother health, somatization, hostility and stress.2.There are no differences between fathers? health, mothers? gynaecological diseases history, gynaecological diseases history of fathers? family and premenstrual syndrome.3.As regards to university students, high school students reveals a more negative approach to premenstrual syndrome.4.Irregular menarche period leads participants to premenstrual syndrome.5.Mothers? health problem leads participants to premenstrual syndrome.6.Mothers? treatment of gynaecological diseases leads participants to premenstrual syndrome.7.As regards to socioeconomic status reveals a more negative approach to premenstrual syndrome.The findings are discussed in the light of literature, the limitations of the study and advices for future studies are suggestively stated.
