Tokat ilinde bitkisel üretimde tarımsal mücadele uygulamaları ve çiftçilerin ilaç kullanımı konusundaki bilgi düzeyleri ile bilgi kaynakları üzerine bir araştırma
Abstract
The main objective of this research is to determine existing plant protection practices of farmers who are in Tokat province, their knowledge level, their information sources, how far they are ready to implement environment friendly plant protection methods, and based on these data to develop proposes for extension works on diffusion and adoption of Integrated Pest Management ( IPM ) methods. Five districts in Tokat province and 154 farmers in those districts were selected as main data source for the purpose of reaching research objectives. Furthermore, Province Directory of Ministry of Agriculture staff ( from Plant Protection and Farmer Training and Extension branches and, Village Extension Workers- 78 persons ) and agricultural pesticide dealers ( 3 1 persons ) were also included in research study as other information sources and essential data were obtained. Farms were groupped according to farm size and cropping pattern and data were evaluated in this respect. Fanners usually use chemical methods unconsciously for plant protection in research area. It can be expressed that farmers are not conscious and sensitive on public health and environment The main part of the farmers don't conform to suggestions on chemical methods and use high dose chemicals. Farmers are not ready to use environment friendly systems in research area, according to data which were obtained from Province Directory of Ministry of Agriculture staff and pesticide dealers. Province Directory of Ministry of Agriculture staff and agricultural pesticide dealers are the main information sources for the farmers in the field of plant protection. These people who direct and lead to fanners are the main determinants in this study. According to findings of this research, the percentage of the Plant Protection branch staff who are related with farmers' plant protection practices and also main information source, and who were graduated from Plant Protection Departments of Agricultural Faculties is quite low ( 5 % ). Furthermore, there are some staff who have never participated any in- service course on Plant Protection in these branch. There isn't any staff who was participated to any activity in abroad and who are following any publication from abroad.
