Turkish press also constructed Greece as?other? on its news texts because of state-media-ideology relations. So news textsabout Greece on Turkish press appeared as an ideological text created at level ofdiscourse containing a clearly historical, social and political ideology, not as somereal information. Thus, Turkish press formed a Greece image and Kardak Crisisbecame one of the most important sight of this image.However, Turkey has also got into a new era with Greece parallel to changesin its policies of EU, USA and regional relations for early 1990?s. Therefore,Turkish foreign policy towards Greece has changed. Similarly, to get support ofpublic opinion to this change, Turkish press has transformed prejudices oftenused about Greece before thanks to human aid of Greece at Marmara Earthquakein 17th August 1999. Afterwards, news about Greece on Turkish press has had anew discourse and image.The aim of this research is to point out the important role of press in foreignpolicy and international relations by exploring Turkish media and Turkish foreignpolicy relations by discourse analysis method applied on news texts.
