Dr. GÜLAYŞE ERKOÇ, 259 p.In this dissertation, it is tried to analyze that the Edward Albee?s notion of?reality? in the context of ?The Lady From Dubuque?. The text has two mainchapters. In the first chapter, namely ?dramaturgical work?, it is tried toinvestigate, in the framework of the Albee?s biography and his works, that thecharacteristics of Albee?s notion of ?reality? and the specific folds of this notionwhich is especially evident in ?The Lady From Dubuque?. Followingly, the generalcharacteristics and theoretical back-ground of Absurd and absurd theatre isclarified. The text and the characters of ?The Lady From Dubuque? is analyzedand the translated version of the original text, which is translated by writer of thisdissertation, is added.In the second chapter, namely ?practical work?, it is explained that the roleplaying and stage rehearsals which performed according to specifically embeddedmeaning of ?The Lady From Dubuque and ?director?s sheet? is added. Set-designing, costumes, lighting and accessories is clarified in both processes, namelycreation and performance.Finally, it is comprehended that better it is to live according to reality byrejecting alienation. ?The Lady From Dubuque?. is put to scene in the context thatharmful nature of apprehending the reality put people untill the point ofcorruption is emphasized.
