Motivation, Self Efficacy, Self-Esteem And MultipleIntelligences, Master?s Thesis, Advisor: Dr. Nazan Tuta(, 125, p.ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of English lessons,based on Multiple Intelligences Theory, on students? motivation, self efficacy,self-esteem and multiple intelligences.The study was conducted at Baskent University, English LanguageDepartment in the spring of 2003-2004 academic year. Pictorial Teele MultipleIntelligences Inventory and Alternative Learning Program Inventories wereapplied on 34 students before and after the study. The results were analyzedwith paired t-test.Results indicated that English lessons based on the MultipleIntelligences Theory caused positive change especially in intrinsic andextrinsic motivation, self-efficacy, persistence and self-esteem. However, theprogram did not cause any change in the students? performance goals,learning goals and self-regulation after the eight week program. Moreover,there was no change in students Multiple Intelligences except Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence.
