Nervus alveolaris inferiorun seyrinin masseter kas kalınlığı, mandibular kemik yoğunluğu ve kalınlığı ile ilişkisinin belirlenmesi
Özet
Determination of the Relationship Between Localization of the Mandibular Canal,Mandibular Bone Mineral Density and Masseter Muscle ThicknessFor safe oral and maxillofacial surgery it is crucial to locate some structures such as inferioralveolar canal before the operation. CT provides unique and valuable information to thesurgeons about anatomy then panoramic radiographs althought it has some disadvantages likegreater radiation exposure and cost. This study was carried out to determine a possible relationship between position of thealveolar inferior canal, mandibular bone mineral densitiy and masseter muscle thickness solessen the needs to the to the expensive diagnostic tools such as CT during routine oral andmaxillofacial work. The investigation was constructed on CT slices obtained from the above mentioned anatomicstructures of the 40 patients (20 female and 20 male), between the ages of 18 and 40 years .The sample was consisted of the patients admitted to the University of Ankara Faculty ofDentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the complaint of uneruptedimpacted teeth, maxillary sinusitis and malocclusion. Some measurements were done on theCT scans and the results were analysed by repeted measurement ANOVA test.We found no relations between all parameters.Key Words: CT, bone densty, masseter muscle, n. alveolaris inferior.
