Nuri Bilge Ceylan filmlerinin Bahtin'in kronotop kavramı ile incelenmesi
Özet
In this study, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's feature films, The Town (1997), Clouds of May (1999), Distant (2002), Climates (2006), Three Monkeys (2008) Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (2011) and Winter Sleep (2014), have been analyzed from the perspective of Mikhail Bakhtin's chronotopes, specifically making use of the chronotopes of the road/encounter, provincial town/idyllic, threshold and parlor. These four chronotopes conceptualized by Bakhtin in order to make narration in novel visible in terms of time and space, reinforce the chronology of narration and determine the genre of the novel, were later adapted to film studies. In this study, the director's films have been analyzed chronoligically and the utilization of the concept of chronotope from narrative, aesthetic and thematic aspects in the director's films has been examined. Furthermore, whilst attempting to prove that chronotopes can be utilized as metaphors and images, whether or not the concept of chronotope can contribute to canon development in New Turkish cinema has been discussed, primarily through the example of provincial town.
