Key Words: Working women, non-working women, patriarchy, genderIn this research, working and non-working women living in the Tesvikiye areawere surveyed about how they 'experience' their lives, how they approach and whatthey expect from their lives, their family relationships and family lives and thesewere analyzed in the context of the patriarchal cultural environment in Turkey andcomparatively investigated in a social anthropological perspective.Surveying techniques constituted out of qualitative research methods were used onface to face appointments with 30 working and 30 non-working women living inTesvikiye. Gathered information was then assembled into respective tables andannotated.Conclusively, we were able to observe how some of the subjects' lives were effectedand at times even limited by some factors outside their own will. These limitationsmay underline the partriarchal construct of our culture.
