Psikosomatik ve ruhsal rahatsızlığa sahip kişilerin stres ile ilişkili değişkenler açısından incelenmesi

The purpose of the current study was to examine the importance of chronic stress in psychosomatic and psychological disease. Second aim was to determine the variables that have predictive power on physical/psychological symptoms of chronic stress. For the purpose of answering study questions, data were collected from a sample of public and hospitals located in Ankara. The sample consisted of 49 rheumatoid arthritis, 42 coronary artery and 48 depression patients who were treated in various hospitals in Ankara. These patient groups and 66 healthy participants were tested on four different scales. The findings indicated that, psychosomatic and psychological patient groups reported more physical chronic stress symptoms than healthy group. Results in terms of psychological chronic stress symptoms showed that the difference between psychosomatic patient group and healthy participants was not significant. The comparisions among depression patient group with healthy group indicated that, this patient group reported significantly more psychological symptoms of chronic stress than healthy group. Results in terms of stress vulnerability revealed that, depression group had more habits which make them vulnerable to stress. The difference between psychosomatic and healthy groups was not significant. The results in terms of coping with stress indicated that, the participants with psychosomatic and psychological disease were using different coping styles. The results of analyses that were conducted to investigate the impact of stress related variables on pyhsical/ psychological chronic stress symptoms revealed that these variables were significant predictors of participants chronic stress symptoms. As well as stress variables, physical and psychological stress symptoms have significant predictive power on each other.
