Radyoterapide pron ve supin kraniyospinal ışınlama tekniklerinin doz dağılımına etkisi
Özet
Craniospinal irradiation is a complex irradiation techniques which is commonly used inpatients who needs both brain and spinal axis treatment. However, prone position is thestandard technique for this complex treatment, in some special situations patients need to beirradiated in supine position. The aim of this study is to evaluate prone and supine irradiationtechniques for dose homogeneity, critical organ doses and patient comfort.Lateral opposing fields were used to treat the brain and direct posterior fields were used tocover the spinal axis in craniospinal irradiation technique. To evaluate two different treatmenttechniques TLD100 dosimetric measurements were done within the adjacent fields. Dosevolume histograms were plotted by treatment planning system to show the therapeutic dosehomogeneities of target volumes and to show the hot and the cold spots within the adjacentfields. The evaluation of these irradiation techniques revealed that prone irradiation is feasiblebecause of easy display advantages of adjacent fields, whereas supine irradiation techniquecan be used only in special conditions as child patients who need anestesia.2006, 55 pagesKey Words: Craniospinal irradiation, prone position, supine position
