dc.description.abstractThe aim of this research is to expose the general problems of the ruralchildren in the transition process to secondary education and also to developsuggestions for solution of these problems. As a first step; existing literature wasexamined to determine the current situation as well as, the regulations and laws onprimary and secondary school education in Turkey. Afterwards, questionnaires wereadministered to collect the opinions and the expectations of the graduating studentsof the various primary schools.Interviews were made with 22 girls and 25 boys (a total of 47 students) whoattended Sirkeli Dumlupınar Primary School. These students live in villages whichshow general characteristics of villages Çubuk and are bussed to school .When thefirst interviews were applied these children were in the last year of primary schooland it was uncertain whether they would go on to secondary school or not. The groupof interviews were made in different times with the students after they graduatedfrom primary school to designate whether they attended secondary school. Inaddition to this, the reasons of continuing or not continuing their education weredetermined by comparison of students? sex. Furthermore, the secondary educationinstitutions where students attended were determined and studied by comparing thetendency according to academic, vocational and technical education. Interviews werealso made with the parents of the same students. In the interviews, it was tried todetermine whether the parents show gender discrimination or not in their children?seducation. Interviews were also made with teachers and administrators in theschools where the children graduated from. In the findings of the study, it isindicated that gender discrimination is observed and the reasons for not attendingsecondary school education differs according to the sex of the children . For bothgirls and boys; transportation problem is the most important reason for not attendingsecondary school and especially girls are affected negatively with this problem. Theidea of having a job is taking precedence for students in attending secondary school,a higher preference of vocational education for girls and academic education for boyswere observed.tr_TR

dc.description.ozetBu araştırma ile köylerde yaşayan öğrencilerin ortaöğretime devametmekte karşılaştıkları sorunları ortaya koymak ve çözüm önerilerigeliştirmek amaçlandı. lk aşamada, Türkiye'de ilköğretim ve ortaöğretimleilgili yasaların, mevcut durumun ve sorunların saptanması için kaynaktaraması yapıldı. Daha sonra mevcut durum ve problemlerle ilgili olarakçocukların görüşlerini almak için görüşme soruları düzenlenerek uygulandı.Görüşmeler, Çubuk lçesi'ne bağlı, merkez köy özelliği gösterenköylerde yaşayan, taşımalı olarak Sirkeli ve Dumlupınar lköğretimOkulları'na devam eden 22 kız 25 erkek toplam 47 öğrenciyle yapıldı.Birinci görüşmeler yapıldığı sırada bu öğrenciler 8. sınıfta okumakta oluportaöğretime devam edip etmeyecekleri belirsizdi. kinci görüşmeler iseöğrenciler mezun olduktan sonra değişik zamanlarda yapılarak öğrencilerinortaöğretime devam edip etmedikleri belirlendi. Bu belirlemenin yanındaortaöğretime devam etme ve edememe nedenleri cinsiyete görekarşılaştırmalı olarak ele alındı. Ayrıca öğrencilerin devam ettikleriortaöğretim kurumları belirlenerek akademik, mesleki ve teknik eğitimyönelimleri karşılaştırılarak incelendi. Çocukların anne ve babalarıyla damezun oldukları tarihten sonra görüşüldü. Bu görüşmelerle ailelerinçocuklarının eğitiminde toplumsal cinsiyet ayrımcılığı yapıp yapmadıklarısaptanmaya çalışıldı. Öğrenci ve ailelerin yanında öğrencilerin mezunoldukları ilköğretim okullarındaki öğretmenleri ve okul yöneticileriyle degörüşüldü. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin ortaöğretime devam etmemenedenlerinin cinsiyete göre farklılaştığı ve toplumsal cinsiyet ayrımcılığıyapıldığı sonucuna ulaşıldı. Kız ve erkek öğrenciler için ortaöğretimedevam etmemede en önemli nedenin ulaşım sorunu olduğu, bu sorundanözellikle kız öğrencilerin olumsuz yönde etkilendiği ortaya çıktı.Öğrencilerinortaöğretime devam etmelerinde bir meslek sahibi olma düşüncesi önplana çıkıyor, kız öğrenciler için mesleki eğitim erkek öğrenciler içinakademik eğitim daha yüksek görünüyordu.tr_TR
