Köpeklerde karprofen ve fluniksin in postoperatif analjezik etkinliklerinin karşılaştırılması
Özet
Comparision of Postoperative Analgesic Effects of Flunixine andCarprofen in the DogThe aim of this comparative study was to determine the differences betweenthe analgesic effects of carprofen and flunixine on dogs considering postoperatif heart rate, respiratory rate, the quality of postoperatif analgesia andthe SDS and MFPS scales. This study was performed on 30 mongrel female dogs. The dogs werecategorized at random in to 3 groups. Carprofen was adminestered (4mg/bw)the first group; flunixine (1.2mg/bw) the second and the third group got salinesolution subcutaneously.Ovariohysterectomy and gastrotomy operations were performed on all dogs. One of the analgesics was randomly and blindly administered to each dog atthe end of the operation. The postoperative measuruments were completed by the same observer without the knowledge of which drug was adminestered.Heart rate and respiratory rates of all dogs were measured at the 1st, 2nd,4th, 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th hours post operatively.Pain reactions were evaluated at the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th and the 12thhours postoperatively using the SDS and MFPS pain scoring scales.According to pain scoring, no effective postoperative analgesia could beprovided by the single dose administration of carprofen and flunixine at theend of the operation. However, it was detected that better analgesic effectiveness and more rapidand longer duration of effect was provided by carprofen compered toflunixine. It was concluded that to achieve meaningfull and reliable results, subjectiveand objective studies should be evaluated concurrently.Key words: dog, pain, carprofen, flunixine, analgesia82
