Ankara ilindeki polislerin tükenmişlik düzeylerinin ve gereksinim örüntülerinin incelenmesi

In this research it is aimed to determine the levels of burnout and the needs of police members, and also to establish those levels of burnout and the needs by comparing with age, marital status, number of children, educational status, working department, rank, seniority, working system, overtime working hours and similar variables. 260 male police seniors and officers were drawn from the sample of the personnel under Police Stations, Traffic, Passport and Foreigners Sections, Riot Police of Ankara Police Department and the personnel under General Directorate of Turkish National Police. The data of this research is obtained by using Maslach Burnout Inventory and Personal Information Form, and analysed through t-test, F-test, Mann Withney U-test and Oneway test. As a result of this researched, some significant relationships were found between police burnout and the other variables, marital status, working department, number of owned children, working system, number of the people whom they met, being supported by colleagues, appreciation by chief, physical conditions of working place, overtime assignments, to be willing to choose the job. In the contrary to that, any relationship was not found between police burnout and rank and educational conditions. The results of this research indicate that level of burnout among bachelors is higher than the level of married ones and there is bumout on a very significant level among the personnel İn Police Stations; and among the personnel in Riot Department on Emotional Exhaustion Subscale. The level of burnout decreases when the number of the children increases and at the same time the same correlation stands between age and burnout. According to the results of this research it is also underlined that the ones who selected "the others" option to the question on working system, exhausted more than the ones who are working different working systems. It is also found that bumout level rises when the number of the people who was met increases. The level of burnout is lower on a significant ratio among the personnel who are supported by their colleagues, appreciated by their chief, and the personnel who are not assigned to work overtime, and are satisfied with the physical conditions of their working place, and the ones who are willing to work in Police Department.Key words: police, needs, bumout.
