This research is carried out for the purpose of determining whether the variables that are thought to predict cognitive flexibility can predict cognitive flexibility. Cognitive flexibility is defined as accommodating of an individual himself when an unexpected situation occurs by bringing new and different solutions to unexpected situations. The predictor variables in the research are defined as critical thinking, verbal creativeness, formal creativeness and overcoming the stress along with lower dimensions of coping with stress such as avoidance of dealing with the problem, inclining to problem and seeking social support. The research is a descriptive model. The study group of the research consists of teachers and teacher candidates who are in senior class in their bachelor?s degree (15 women and 15 men, 30 in all). The participants are also classified according to their field of study. 12 out of 30 participants are from verbal field (40%), 11 out of 30 are from numerical field (36,7%) and 7 out of 30 are from art field (23,3%).In the research, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test is used for the purpose of determining the variable of cognitive flexibility, Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal is used so as to determine critical thinking, the scale of coping with stress is used with the intent of determining the level of coping with stress and Torrance Test of Creative Thinking is used for the purpose of determining verbal and formal creativeness.First. the levels of cognitive flexibility of the participants, levels of coping with stress, levels of verbal and formal creativeness along with the relation between their genders and fields of study is analyzed. T ? test and Analysis of Variance are practiced on the points that counterbalance the hypothesis of normality while Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis tests are practiced on the points that do not counterbalance the hypothesis of normality. According to the results, it is determined that all variables do not show a significant difference in accordance with the variable of gender and field of study. In the research, two regression models are studied. Cognitive flexibility as predicted variable and in the other one, perseveration is examined. In both of the models, predictor variables are defined as critical thinking, verbal creativeness, formal creativeness and coping with the stress along with lower dimensions of coping with stress such as avoidance of dealing with the problem, inclining to problem and seeking social support. According to the results of nonparametric regression analysis with the method of Robust regression, only formal creativeness variable was found significant predictor of cognitive flexibility and that there is no relation between formal creativeness and cognitive flexibility. Besides, it was determined that verbal and formal creativeness are significant predictors of perseveration and that there is a positive relationship between verbal creativeness and perseveration while there is a negative relationship between formal creativeness and perseveration.
