The main aim of the study is to present the reflections of the Annan Plan proposal indirection for solution in Cyprus from both T.R.N.C and Greek Cypriot State mediaperspective. For this purpose, the headline news on leading newspapers of T.R.N.Cand Greek Cypriot State media, particularly with different ideological belief andproperty framework, has been studied.In the first part; mass media theories have been discussed and liberal theories relatedto media have been analysed. The critical approaches in which effective criticalparadigm of media on society have been questioned, and have been examined interms of theoretical point of views. Additionally in this part, news concept and newsgathering have been explained and the relations of media and government power inpolitical system have been evaluated over the ownership structure of media inT.R.N.C and Greek Cypriot State.In the second part of the study, the Cyprus Issue as the research subject has beenexamined from a historical process point of view. Thereafter, searches for thesolution for Cyprus issue and the Annan Plan proposal in this direction have alsobeen studied.In the third part; the direction of T.R.N.C and Greek Cypriot State media over thehistorical process, the important developments taken place during this historicalprocess and the effects on both T.R.N.C and Greek Cypriot State media until theAnnan Plan proposal have been evaluated.In the last part of the study, an application has been made using content analysisrelated to the representation in press on the Cyprus Issue and the Annan Plan. Ananalysis has been applied to the news published on Vatan, Kıbrıs, Yeni Düzen,Simerini, Filelefteros, Haravgi newspapers including the content analysis consistingof quantitative and qualitative analyses related to the Annan Plan proposal forcreation of the United Cyprus Republic. The collected data have been evaluated inconnection with the relations of media and government power, and have beeninterpreted as the main goal of this study.
