ABSTRACT THE FORMATION PROCESS AND REPUTATION OF CONCEPT THE AL-KUTUB AL-SITTE The hadith literature of Islam is concerned with the transmission of reports regarding the example (sunna) of Muhammad. These reports were the object of intense search during the first two and a half centuries of the Islamic era. They were collected into many written compilations and gradually six of these became recognized in much of the Sunni world as the most authorative ones. The 'six books* (al-kutub al-sitte), as they are called, form the basis for this investigation into the role of hadith as commentary on the Qur'an. It has been written a lot of hadith books in the third century which also called the term of al-kutub al-sitte from point qfwiew historical of hadith. It has been respected Sahih of Bukhari and Muslim among them due to whole and reliable hadiths which they contains and they have been renown with in the name ofSahihayn which means two Sahih books. It has been mentioned together with this two books due to whole and reliable hadiths which include Sunans of Abu Dawud, TirmidhS and Nasâî written in the same season and have been renown. These five books or al-usûl al-hamse (five main source) is widely known as al- kutub al-hamse, "al-usûl al-hamsen. Later by some hadith scholars added al- Muvattâ' of Malık or some added Sunan of Darımı with these addition al-Kutub al-Sitta has been existed. The topics which we held in our thesis are shown as reference in hadith literature. These six books are written in the third century according to the pertaining to the Hegira. After six century in the Hegira these books are qualified by many hadith scholars as whole. In addition in our study we tried to mention that the evaluations which was made earlier is not worship but is only an ıctıhad.
