The incredible development of communication and information technologies went against the underdeveloped countries -Third World or The South- that has became independent after The Second World War but remained dependent to The North for economic survival. This dependency brought together the dependency on the news agencies and media conglomerates of the ex-imperial powers for an adequate supply of media materials for local distribution. The global economic inequality that can be seen as a legacy of imperialism has grown up within years and also the global media market became much more concentrated and dominated by the media giants; AOL Time Warner, Disney, News Corporation, Viacom, Vivendi, Sony, and Bertelsmann. With the distribution of cultural products and news of the developed countries by these multinational firms and news agencies like Reuters, AP and AFP to the entire world, the ideology of these countries that promote global markets and encourage consumerism is being presented as the best way for human development. dc.description.ozetÖZET İletişim ve bilgi teknolojilerindeki inanılmaz gelişme, İkinci Dünya Savaşı sonrasında bağımsızlığına kavuşan fakat ekonomik olarak ayakta kalabilmek için Kuzey ülkelerine bağımlılığı süren az gelişmiş ülkelerin -Üçüncü Dünya veya Kuzey- aleyhine olmuştur.
