Forum dergisinin öne çıkmış temel entellektüellerinin Türkiye'nin siyasal ve kültürel sorunlarına yaklaşım biçimleri (1954-1957)
Abstract
In tins study, the approaching manners of Turhan Feyzioğlu, Aydın Yalçın, Metin And and Şerif Mardin who are the authors of Forum periodical to the political and cultural problems of Turkey during period between 1954 and 1957 have been studied. The authors have made the synthesis of Kemalisin and Western Liberal democracies and have established a democracy theory which is peculiar to us and within this frame; they have tried to produce the solutions for the problems of Turkey. Forum had a critical attitude against Democrat Party which had been ruling during that period which it was published. However, there is not any prejudice or anti democratic manner on the basis of these critiques. Democrat Parry had been criticized, since it did not fulfill the political obligations of the multi-party system and did not execute tile necessary opening out which has required by the democracy. The difference of the Forum movement than other formations is to being performed the ideas which were defended in periodical and being established institutional structures after 1960. The ideas of other intellectual movements (Kadro, Yön) were not reflected to the political practice by this manner. Forum is an exception in the Turkish intellectual life at this point of view. But one may say that the necessary attention did not paid to the periodical or one did not give importance to it Therefore, the political structure of 1950's and the ideological formation which forms the intellectual world of the intellectuals are not understood completely and one cannot penetrate into the problems. Another important characteristic of Forum is to aim to form a new intellectual type as proper for the multiparty period's conditions. It had been thought that the intellectuals whose their thoughts were formed by the corporatist ideas of the single parity period would not adapted to the new development at this point of view, there was not any sympathy to the past formations. Despite of all missing and limitations, the Forum movement is an important intellectual periodical which deserves the necessary interest It had left its mark during 1950' s. It became a periodical which all intellectuals at that period paid attention to it Therefore, as a periodical which produces the ideas within a certain mission, it is tried to be told that it has an important place in the Turkish intellectual life.
