1923'ten günümüze Ankara imar planlarının açık ve yeşil alanlar açısından irdelenmesi

Abstract

This thesis aims to examine how open and green spaces in Ankara has been handled in planning activities and planning proceses that was begun since 1923, which differs from all other cities of Turkey as it is the capital city, and to determine the changes and developments of open and green spaces in an historical perspective.This thesis consists of four main chapters. Chapter 1, which is "Introductory", consists of five sub-headings. The first sub-heading, where the the first principles are given in order to make the subject and the concepts related to the subject intelligible, is "Definition of Urban and Urbanization". Urban planning is examined in a historical perspective by giving definitions of urban and urbanization in this sub-heading which is necessary to determine the occurance of open & green spaces as a need in cities. The sub-heading where the relation between urban planning and open & green spaces is settled is named as "The Relation Between Urban Planning and Open & Green Spaces". Refering to the previous heading, open & green spaces are examined with their definitions, classifications, functions since their being new and current notions and importance of them from the view of Landscape Architecture is mentioned. In the same way, "Recreation", as another new and actual notion, is examined and related with green spaces in the fourth sub-heading. After providing the preperation knowledge in the previous chapter as an instruction, brief knowledge about any kind of material and method used throughout the research has been covered by the second chapter named 'Material and Methodology'. Third chapter with heading 'Research Results' consists of three sub headings where the subject is detailed. In the first sub-heading, in where the physical and environmental values of Ankara are given, it is aimed to introduce Ankara with its general features. In the second sub-heading, capitol Ankara's, growth in the historical process that formed the basis of thesis subject takes place. And at the end in the third sub-heading, the urbanization and reconstruction activities which began with the declaration of Ankara as capitol in 1923 following the independence of young Turkish Republic, are examined as periods till today from the view of open & green spaces with giving details in some parts. By this examination phases passed from Jansen's plan recent past up to now is given from the view of open and green spaces.
