Cinsiyet, yalan söyleme ve çıkar elde etmenin yalana ilişkin yüklemelere etkisi
Özet
By following the approach that views lying as an indispensable part of personal affairs, it is aimed in this thesis to analyze causal attributions towards lies that that were told under specific circumstances. In accordance with this aim, two researches have been conducted. In the first research, it has been sought if the person telling the lie (partner /family member/ close friend), the person whom the lie is told to (to the subject/ to another person), state of getting benefit from telling lie (benefit exists/ benefit does not exist) and sex of the subject are making any difference in causal attributions? locus of causality, stability, globality and intention dimensions, or not. In the second research conducted with a different sample, it has been analyzed if attributions of lies changes according to the person who tells the lie (partner /family member/ close friend), the sex of the person whom the lie was directed to, state of getting benefit from telling lie (benefit exists/ benefit does not exist) and the sex of the subject. The results of the first research have shown that the person telling the lie is influential with respect to all dimensions of attribution. It has been made more external, stable, specific and well-intentioned attributions for family members? lies when compared to partner and close friend? s lies. It has been found that the person whom the lie is told to and state of gaining benefit from the lie are only effective on intention attributions; attributions towards lies which are told to the person himself/herself and which do not bring benefit have been more well-intentioned.It has been found that the results of the second research are consistent with the results of the first research. As the consequence of including the sex of the person whom the lie is told to into the research, it has been observed that this variable is influential with respect to all attribution dimensions rather than the stability dimension. However, it has been observed that telling the lie to a woman or man is not on its own influential upon locus of causality and intention attributions and that the direction of this effect has been determined by two situations together as the person telling the lie and the state of benefiting from telling the lie. According to the findings, it has been confirmed that the situation of telling a lie with a benefit obtaining result to a woman is the most critical condition for locus of causality dimension and intention attributions.
