Vitiligolu hastaların psikiyatrik açıdan değerlendirilmesi vekontrol grubu ile karşılaştırılması

OBJECT?VE: The aim of this study is investigating the psychiatric morbidity, self esteem,anxiety and depressiom symptoms and social adjustments of the patients with vitiligo whoare being treated at the dermatology policlinic.METHOD: After dermatological examination, 42 vitiligo patients were assesed by StructuredClinical ?nterview for DSM-IV Axis I Disorders (SCID-I), Hospital Anxiety DepressionScale (HADS), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale(LSAS), Sheehan Disability Scale (SDS). Control group was constituted from subjects whoare matched to patient group in terms of age, sex and education.RESULTS: Psychiatric morbidity was established more and self esteem was established lowin the vitiligo group (p<0.05). There was no significant difference between patient and controlgroup in terms of social anxiety and disability was declared as mild by most of patients(p>0.05). Among the vitiligo cases, psychiatric morbidity was found more who are femaleand young (p<0.05). There was no significant relation between psychiatric morbidity andmarital and occupational status (p>0.05). Psychiatric morbidity was found more in cases whohave widespread lesions (p<0.05).CONCLUS?ON: These findings suggest that the rate of psychiatric morbidity is more inpatients with vitiligo than healty control subjects. Patients with vitiligo treated at dermatologyclinics should be assesed in terms of psychiatric disorders and psychiatric support shoud bereceived when required.
