Türk sinemasında illüstratif afişler (1950-1960)
Özet
Turkish cinema that was accepted as a new branch of art strating from the pre-republic period started to find its own identity between the years 1950 ? 1970. The system has difficulties of the first stage of configuration in the fields of operation, application and screening. Cinema, with its production companies, producers, directors and artists, and audiences, comes out as the basic in this first stage and ends its configuration stages in executions. Movie theaters meets the audiences with the system. With the development of Turkish cinema, posters, the most effective conduit of marketing, is developed as well because of its peculiarity of transportation the messages to the audience most easily and effectively. While film posters were mostly produced by the use of photography in 1940?s; it was observed that illustration was mostly the chosen technique for the film poster production in 1950?s. The reason for that can be seen as, illustrative posters gave the opportunity to the designer to work more freely and gave more free space to work. However, the designer is still not the only one to decide; producers, directors, even the film artists are the ones in the production process to decide as well as the designer.Because of the technical inalienability in those years, graphical deficiencies showed itself mostly on typographic elements in posters. Fonts of the typographic elements were not chosen by the appropriateness of the film genre, but convenience of writing. The film posters that are produced between the years 1950-1960 are analyzed according to genres. Some similarities are seen between the posters, which are designed by considering the audience?s appreciations, assets and expectations. Thus, we can see that a common formation of a design language in those posters is starting to form. The film posters made the years between 1950 ? 1960 are not only a communication conduit trying to draw audience?s attention on films and establish a relationship between the film and the audience, but also gives information about the social and cultural situation and value judgments of the society.
