Özet
The thesis investigates Turkish and Kyrgyz (or Turkey Turkish and Kyrgyz Turkish) verbs in terms of argument structure. The study deals with the argument structure configurations of the verbs of both languages within the framework of the theory of Hale and Keyser (2002). The analysis and explanations concerning the features of argument structures of Kyrgyz and Turkish verbs have been made on the basis of the theory. Besides the verbs and the arguments they project are not regarded according to the position they take in the sentence, but according to the positions they occupy in lexical argument structure. The monadic, basic dyadic, composite dyadic and atomic argument structures, which are specified within the framework of the basic relations in the argument structure as Head-complement and specifier-Head, have been researched and the Kyrgyz verbs have been analyzed on the basis of these structures. In the research the argument structure configurations in which the verbs occur are determined according to transitivity, middle construction etc. alternations and the behaviors that Turkish and Kyrgyz verbs display are studied within the scope of constructionist approach. The study focuses on the argument structures projected by V category. The atomic argument structure, which represents N category, is not touched on.
