Türkiye'de internet ortamında toplumsal cinsiyetin kuruluşu: Bloglar
Özet
The relation between blogs and gender has been the subject of many studies. Such studies introduce a considerable number of data that simply proves that women are "sentimental" whereas men are "rational". The fact that these studies underline the differences - rather than similarities - between men and women indicates that gender stereotypes are produced not only in the virtual sphere but on academic ground as well. However, this study highlights both the differences and the similarities between male and female bloggers. The purpose of this study is to question the liberalizing potential of internet and new communication technologies and define the area considering that there is only a small number of studies on blogs and gender in Turkey. At the end of the study, it was observed that the differences between male and female bloggers in Turkey are not as huge as they were presented in former studies and that the virtual world is actually a reflection of women's and men's real-life behaviors. In other words, individuals display the gender-related behavior and attitude in their blogs and re-construct the male and female stereotypes imposed by the society. In this respect, we believe that the liberalizing potential of new communication technologies should be re-considered
