Özet
Polygenic diseases as atherosclerosis, thrombosis and hypertension have multigenic basisand also have interactions with environmental factors.. Multiple genes can play importantrole to suppress or to trigger the occurance of the disease. Scientists use statistical tools andmethods to find evidence whether suspected genes have relation with the diseases theystudy on.Statistical learning play important roles in areas such as statistics, data mining and artificialintelligence. Statistical learning can be explained briefly as ?learning from data? and it usesmeasured qualitative or quantitative data. In statistical learning, some features that exist indata are used to make a prediction.In this thesis, it is intended that statistical learning methods can help to identify the roles ofthe genes in polygenic diseases. Dataset that contains case and control group data is usedas training data. Even if the aim of this thesis is to classify the case and control groups ofpolygenic diseases, the analysis of the data used in this study showed that this dataset is nota proper one to conduct a statistical learning analysis.
