Özet
Moving from some critical elements such as mass, leader, party typology, ideology and discourse, the main purpose of this thesis is to analyze the Young Party. Daring to simplfy, we can put forward that in the first two chapters of this study, particular emphasis is upon the emergence of the party within the context of general elections held in 2002. In the third chapter, the case of the Young Party is discussed on the axis of classical elements that political parties enjoy. What this study attempts to do is presenting a historical perspective on the Young Party and political developments in Turkey from the general elections held in 2002 to the general elections held in 2007. It has been underlined that the Young Party ?typologically- is both a ?business firm party? and ?anti-establishment political party?. The ?connection? between the Young Party and the Uzan Group has been examined throughout the study. It has been stated that the Young Party is a byproduct of the crisis of political representation, the blurring distinction between ?right? and ?left?, technicalization of politics and major socio eceonomic crises. Besides, the fact that the voters of the Young Party are not only the poor people is indicated in the study. Lastly, it has been also put forward that the Young Party which benefits from various media channels is both neo-populist and neo-fascist party which attaches a great importance to the role of the leader.
